Day 1! Got up quite early (relative to my usual schedule at least) and went out to a park nearby to skip rope. I looked through the list of exercises and thought at least week 1 wouldn't be too bad. Nothing beats starting out strong right?
I quickly found problem number 1: I can't skip rope... I kept tripping myself every few skips, and after screwing around for 10 minutes or so finally got to do around 20-30 consecutive jumps but those were really awkward ones where I had to jump really high and felt like I was wasting energy. The fact that it was a public park with random people passing by didn't help either. I scrambled to get the 250 jumps done while tripping every few skips... (I know we are supposed to do sets of 50...) It's even more frustrating because I used to know how to skip rope as a kid. Must have somehow forgotten how to do that in the last 15-20 years. Time to youtube rope skipping videos.
Other than that the day was pretty normal. Eating half portion wasn't too bad. It definitely felt a little unsatisfying after just eating half a sandwich and put the other half away but it did make each bite of the food much more delicious.
The exercises were pretty easy but I'm sure in a few weeks I would wish I didn't say that!
Somehow because of my timezone (PST-8) I got Patrick's Day 2 email when I was still doing Day 1 exercises. He mentioned getting a push-up bar. So now I've always done push-ups on the floor either normally or using my fists. Are there any reasons why a push-up bar is better?
Hahaha sorry to hear about the jump rope. Runs in the family I guess. Trust me, it gets better....
